Residential Certificates of Compliance

Owners of residential rental properties must obtain a Certificate of Compliance from the Buildings, Safety, Engineering, and Environmental Department (BSEED). The Certificate of Compliance means that the property was inspected and meets the minimum requirements of the Detroit Property Maintenance Code and any applicable Zoning Ordinances. To obtain the certificate, the owner must register the property with BSEED Property Maintenance, schedule and pass a Rental Inspection, and obtain a Lead Clearance if the property was built in 1978 or earlier. This data set is limited to currently valid Residential Certificates of Compliance and the number of days until the certificate expires is noted on each row.
