Highland Park Service Line Inventory

The Highland Park Water Department’s inventory of service line materials is now available, meeting requirements of the Michigan Lead and Copper Rule and the EPA Lead and Copper Rule Revisions This inventory shares the best available information about the materials of every service line in Highland Park. You can enter your address to see whether your house has a lead service line, or if it has been replaced with plastic or copper. Because of the age of the Highland Park Water System, the majority of service lines in the community are made of lead.

Highland Park has begun the process of replacing lead service lines. We have already replaced 686 lead service lines since 2020. We are developing a plan to replace the remaining lead and galvanized service lines by 2031, 10 years sooner than required by the Michigan Lead and Copper Rule. This program will be completed at no direct cost to residents, using state and federal funds. We are still developing our water infrastructure replacement plans subject to the requirements of the settlement and hope to release them in 2025.
