It is the story of how the people of Oakland County responded collectively and individually to one of the most perilous times in our nation's history. It is about how 10 percent of its populace would volunteer to fight for the rights and freedom of others, but it is also about the 90 percent who supported this effort from the home front; the shared sacrifices collectively borne by the families of those who enlisted. It is about how citizens collectively supported one another and their soldiers. These are but a few examples of the rich heritage of Oakland County and her people that awaits you.
