Detroit Thermal
Detroit Thermal’s steam distribution system has been an innovative energy solution for Detroit since 1903. More than 100 years later, it is still providing clean, safe steam energy as effectively as ever–only now, it is partially derived from clean, renewable sources.
Detroit Thermal is an independent operating subsidiary of Detroit Renewable Energy. Detroit Renewable Energy LLC is a consortium of energy generation and distribution companies formed to provide Detroit with safe, reliable and cost-effective energy generation and distribution, as well as waste disposal. Detroit Renewable Energy also owns Detroit Renewable Power (an energy-from-waste facility and steam supplier) and Hamtramck Energy Services, which manages and staffs several private powerhouses and waste water treatment facilities for General Motors.
Project Mist HoldCo, a New York-based company, owns Detroit Renewable Energy, the parent company of Detroit Thermal, Detroit Renewable Power, Detroit Renewable Cooling, and Hamtramck Energy Services. Project Mist Holdco's owners include Basalt Infrastructure Partners, which also owns Upper Peninsula Power Co.
