The City of Detroit receives Fire Insurance Escrow (FIE) funds pursuant to the Fire Insurance Withholding Program, administered by The State of Michigan. Under
the program, the City of Detroit receives a portion of the insured's
insurance payment to be held in an escrow account until the relevant
structure is repaired, replaced, or demolished, at which time the FIE
funds would be released by the City of Detroit to the insured. All
current property owners may be eligible to receive the balance on their
property. To inquire, please contact the Buildings, Safety Engineering,
